01 / The story of this place

WXYZ-TV is Detroit's ABC affiliate on channel 7, owned by the E.W. Scripps Company. It signed on October 9, 1948, as the second TV station in Detroit and in Michigan. Its studios and transmitter sit at Broadcast House on 10 Mile Road in Southfield. It hosted the first Town Meeting with President Bill Clinton in February 1993, and in 1998 it became Detroit's first station to broadcast a digital signal.
