Walled Lake Central High School has educated students in the western Detroit suburbs of Commerce Township for decades as part of the Walled Lake Consolidated Schools district. Actor and comedian Dax Shepard, who grew up nearby, attended the school and graduated in 1993, years before he became known for roles in television and film and for co-hosting the popular podcast Armchair Expert. Shepard's path from a Michigan public high school to Hollywood is one many local kids have followed since, and the school still turns out graduates from the same campus each year. Walled Lake Central remains an active public high school today, serving the surrounding community. The school sits alongside two sister high schools in the district, Walled Lake Northern and Walled Lake Western, all drawing students from the same lakeside communities.
