Closed – archive entry · 2026

Harmonie Park wine bar and restaurant from 2015 to 2026, known for a huge bottle list and vertical tastings; now closed.

01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Vertical Detroit opened in 2015 on Centre Street in the historic Harmonie Park district, run by James and Remy Lutfy, who also own the Fine Wine Source in Livonia. It set out to be downtown Detroit's first high-end, wine-centric restaurant, and by 2019 it was pouring from a list of more than 2,000 bottles and over 100 wines by the glass. The name comes from a vertical tasting: three or more consecutive vintages of the same wine. After a decade, it closed in spring 2026.

  1. On Centre Street from 2015 to 2026
  2. 2,000+ bottles and 100+ wines by the glass in 2019
  3. Vertical flights of consecutive vintages
  4. Owners now focus on Fine Wine Source shops
