01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Knight and Dorothy Webster bought the 400-acre property in 1960 with backing from 20 Oakland County families. In the 1930s and '40s the land was part of GM executive C.E. Wilson's Wind Row Farms, where he raised prize Ayrshire cattle. The Websters wanted a working, teaching, recreational farm: school groups started coming in 1963, and in 1971 Upland Hills Farm School opened in the big party barn. The Pumpkin Fest began in 1980, and in the early years cars backed up a quarter mile down Lake George Road. Steve and Leslie Webster run the farm today.
- Harvest Festival: $13 per person, 24 months and under free, $11 each for groups of 10+

- Harvest Moon Hayrides: $10 for a 30-minute ride, cider, a donut and the bonfire
- Farm donuts and Hy's cider: donut $1.50, dozen $10; cider $1.50 a cup, $10 a gallon
