Union Street Station billed itself as downtown Traverse City's oldest bar, dating from 1892 (the local tourism listing says 1891). A narrow old-school bar with pool and a stage, it was voted Traverse City's best live-music venue for more than ten years and hosted local and touring bands such as the J. Hawkins Band. Operator Christina Thompson said the closure was 'not our choice': the building owner (117 S Union LLC) ended the lease, and the bar closed on February 28, 2026 after a 134-year run.
