03 / The story of this place

What’s it like to stay here?

It started in the late 1960s as a Holiday Inn and later spent decades as the Corktown Inn. A Los Angeles investor's company took over in 2014, ran it briefly as The Corktown Hotel and reopened it as Trumbull and Porter in early 2016 after a $9 million redesign by Detroit's Patrick Thompson Design; another refresh wrapped up in 2024. Rooms have furniture made by local artisans, the walls show work by more than 50 Detroit artists, and the courtyard has a fire pit and a stage. On site you'll find the Red Dunn restaurant and bar and the Burroughs Lounge, named for the Burroughs Adding Machine Company. Michigan Central, Corktown's bars and downtown are all close by.
