Make time for these
The Works held down 1846 Michigan Ave in Corktown, two blocks west of old Tiger Stadium, for more than 20 years and was billed as Detroit's longest-running techno club. It ran two large rooms of house and techno plus industrial, dubstep and other styles, hosted DJs such as Kevin Saunderson, Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Carl Cox, Derrick Carter, Pete Tong and Function, and was a favorite after-party spot during the Movement festival weekend. Owner Tammy Wilcox-Steelman said the building was sold in June 2018 and the new landlord would not renew the lease; the final parties were held on December 31, 2018, and the club closed at this address on January 1, 2019.
