03 / The story of this place
What’s it like to stay here?
The Kingsley has been a social hub at Woodward Avenue and Long Lake Road since its current building opened in 1958; the business began as the Kingston Inn in 1927 on another site and took the Kingsley Inn name in 1938. After a roughly $10 million renovation designed by Neumann/Smith, it reopened in 2018 as a DoubleTree by Hilton with a two-story glass atrium lobby. Inside are 144 rooms and suites, Bloomfield Hills' only indoor saltwater pool, a courtyard with fire pits, about 11,000–12,000 sq ft of event space, Zalman's diner, The Duke lounge and a Joe Muer Seafood. Crescent Hotels & Resorts runs it, and downtown Birmingham and Cranbrook are about five minutes away.
