Make time for these
The Aroma Labs grew out of founder Tanya Thompson's basement hobby in Kalamazoo and now runs scent studios in several Midwest cities. At the Detroit shop you sit down at a 40-fragrance perfumers' organ, mix notes on test strips, and get coached by staff the brand calls Aromatenders. Once the blend is right, they bottle it on the spot as perfume or another handmade product and save the formula to your profile so you can reorder later. It makes an easy date night or friends' outing that ends with something you actually take home.
