The Taubman Company was founded in 1950 by A. Alfred Taubman and helped shape the American enclosed regional mall, developing centers across the US and in Asia. It's still headquartered on Long Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills. On November 3, 2025, Simon closed on the last 12% interest in The Taubman Realty Group, completing its takeover. In Detroit, the founder's name lives on at the College for Creative Studies' Taubman Center.
