Make time for these
The library was founded at the township's annual meeting in April 1976, and its first home was the old Andersonville schoolhouse. In 1977 the schoolhouse was moved to Andersonville Road and renovated, and the library stayed there for 23 years. In November 1998 voters approved a bond for the Springfield Township Civic Center, library included. The new building opened in March 2002, designed so you can watch the Shiawassee Basin Preserve from every side. The library celebrated its 50th birthday in September 2026.
