What’s it like to stay here?
Shinola Hotel opened on Woodward in January 2019, a project of Bedrock and Detroit's own watch and leather brand, Shinola. It stitches together five buildings, among them the red-tiled 1915 T.B. Rayl Co. hardware store and the 1936 limestone Singer sewing machine building, plus new infill. Its 129 rooms, suites and penthouses come in lots of different layouts, some with terraces and fireplaces. Chef Andrew Carmellini's team runs the food and drink: San Morello and Evening Bar inside, and The Brakeman, Penny Red's and Ray's out back in Parker's Alley. In 2024 it became the first hotel in Detroit to earn a Michelin Key.
