01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
The Huskies played football at Hubbell Field from 1920 to 1980 and moved here in 1981. The field became Sherman Field on Oct. 1, 1988, honoring Donald P. Sherman, the athletic director from 1936 who added boxing, tennis and skiing at Michigan Tech. After a three-year renovation it was rededicated on Sept. 4, 2021, as Sherman Field at Kearly Stadium, with new seating, press box, fieldhouse and turf. It seats 3,000, but the record is 4,684 fans, set at the first-ever night game on Sept. 29, 2012, against Grand Valley State. Women's soccer has played here since 2010, usually on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
