The Rogers Theater was built in 1937 as a classic single-screen Art Deco movie house and was rebuilt and enlarged to about 600 seats after a 1948 fire. Karl W. Heidemann bought it in 2003, added a stage and from 2004 alternated live productions with first-run movies; in 2009 the original orange-and-black tile facade was restored. When 35mm distribution ended, a 2013 Kickstarter campaign (“go digital or go dark!”) raised $116,945 for digital projection, sound and new seats. Heidemann donated the theater to the Presque Isle District Library in 2016, which now runs it for new and classic films, live theater, concerts and talks. October 16–18, 2026 brings an Alfred Hitchcock Film Weekend with The Lady Vanishes, To Catch a Thief and Psycho.
