Make time for these
River City Improv was founded in 1993 by college friends Rick Treur and Jeanne Leep. In the early years it hopped from coffee shop to coffee shop before finding a home at a new coffee house with a performance space on Weston Street SE. Now in its 33rd season, it plays public shows at Midtown at Studio Park on Ionia Avenue and occasionally at the Wealthy Theatre. Every scene is improvised from audience suggestions, and the comedy is clean, so bring anyone.

Summer & outdoor theater / Grand Rapids
Circle Theatre
Grand Rapids' summer community theatre since 1953. It started in a hotel room, then played a park pavilion that housed the zoo's monkeys in winter. Today it's at Aquinas College's Performing Arts Center.

A small black-box stage on State Street SE in Grand Rapids that local companies, comedians and performers rent for their own shows. The new Dog Star Series adds three bigger productions a year.
