Make time for these
In October 1931 Lincoln High School teacher Minna Miller Smith gathered 27 would-be actors at her home in Pleasant Ridge, using Federal Emergency Relief Administration funds. A high-school senior suggested the name for a $5 prize, blending Pleasant Ridge and Ferndale into Ridgedale. Members built their own playhouse at Ten Mile and Republic in Oak Park and opened it with John Loves Mary on January 12, 1949. The Junior Actors of Ridgedale followed in 1950, and the first musical, Bells Are Ringing, came in 1966-67. The 2026-27 season includes Come From Away (September 11-27, 2026) and A Streetcar Named Desire (January 22-February 7, 2027).
