Palmer Park grew from Thomas W. Palmer’s 1893 land donation. Preserving woodland was part of the original intention, and trees remain central to its character. Lake Frances, the historic log cabin, and recreation areas create varied reasons to visit. Community stewardship and programming through People for Palmer Park continue to shape the park’s life.

Founded
Large park on land he donated; his 1885 log cabin still stands, and the Merrill Fountain, commissioned by his wife in memory of her father, was moved here from Campus Martius in 1926.
