01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

The arena opened in 1998 and took its current name in 2023 through a 10-year, $5 million naming deal with Oakland University Credit Union. Fans call it The Blacktop: an all-black floor with an outline of Michigan and the bear-head logo at center court. Men's and women's basketball and volleyball play here, and the Grizz Gang student section brings the noise. The athletics ticket office is on the first floor, next to the P-16 lot and across from the Rec Center.
