Artistic director Krista Schafer founded Open Book Theatre Company, and its first season kicked off in 2014-15. The company plays an intimate, reconfigurable, general-admission space on West Road, so wherever you sit, you're close. The focus is contemporary plays and new work rather than the umpteenth revival. Schafer and the company have picked up several Wilde Awards for acting and directing. The 2026-27 season is its 13th: boom runs through October 4, 2026, and Woman in Black follows from October 30 to November 22.

Plan your visit

The theatre is at 1621 West Rd. in Trenton. The box office and lobby open an hour before curtain and the house opens 30 minutes before, and since seating is general admission, early birds get their pick.

General admission; the theatre's site lists two general-admission tickets at $70.

Accessibility

The building is ADA compliant. Chairs are removable, so wheelchair users can stay in their own chair; let the box office know in advance.
