Make time for these
There was already a movie theatre at 811 Ludington Street around 1913: the Strand. Delft Theatres rebuilt it as the Michigan Theatre and dedicated it on December 2, 1930, with sound and an early air-cooling system. Delft, then Melcorp and independent operators ran it until it closed in 1994; after that it was a church, then a clothing store, then an empty shell. A local couple bought the derelict building in 2018, restored it and reopened it in July 2024 as the Old Michigan Theatre. Today it's a roughly 300-seat cinema with an arcade, and on October 9-10, 2026 it throws a horror weekend with The Exorcist, The Shining and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
