01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Michigan Tech owns a 600-acre recreational forest right next to campus, and the Tech Trails run all through it. Winter brings Nordic skiers and snowshoers; summer brings hikers, runners and mountain bikers. The Systems Control Nordic Wax Center at the main trailhead houses the Outdoor Adventure Program rental center, where you can rent kayaks, snowshoes and camping gear. The trails belong to the Keweenaw Trail Alliance, so one combo pass also covers Swedetown in Calumet, Maasto Hiihto in Hancock and the Chassell trails. Huskies cross country races are held here too.
