01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

The Mexicantown Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit focused on Southwest Detroit's Mexicantown, the neighborhood around Bagley Street and Vernor Highway once known as La Bagley. Among its projects, it co-produced the documentary A Journey to Mexico with Keith Famie's production company, tracing the roots of the neighborhood's immigrant families. Its website currently returns an error, so we're still checking how active it is today.

  1. Founded in 1989 by the Southwest Detroit Business Association
  2. Co-produced a documentary on immigrant roots
  3. Bagley and Vernor are the neighborhood's heart
  4. Current status still being checked
