01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

McGuirk Arena is the heart of the $22.5 million John G. Kulhavi Events Center, which opened in its current form in December 2010. The first men's game here was against Temple on December 2, 2010; the women opened against Ole Miss on December 18. The renovation quadrupled the restrooms, pushed chair-back seating from 14 to 41 percent and finally added climate control. Two concourse-length murals walk you through CMU and Mount Pleasant history. The arena is named for Mount Pleasant native and longtime supporter James McGuirk; the court honors former CMU trustee John G. Kulhavi.
