01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Marygrove College closed at the end of 2019 after 92 years. Its logo, a nod to the founding IHM sisters, still shows the historic Liberal Arts Building. Since 2018 the nonprofit Marygrove Conservancy has looked after the 53-acre campus, where education partners now include The School at Marygrove, the Marygrove Early Education Center and a University of Michigan teaching school. It also hosts events: the Marygrove Theater seats 392, Theresa Maxis Alumnae Hall takes 400 theater-style, and Sacred Heart Chapel holds 300. Free community events include Light Up Marygrove in December and Campus Summer Fest.
