Machus Red Fox was a well-regarded suburban restaurant on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township, popular enough that former Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa's son had held his wedding reception there. On July 30, 1975, Hoffa arrived at the restaurant expecting to meet reputed mob figure Anthony "Tony Jack" Giacalone to patch up tensions between old and new leadership in the Teamsters union; Giacalone never showed, and Hoffa was last seen alive waiting in the parking lot before he vanished, one of the most famous unsolved disappearances in American history. The restaurant kept operating for another two decades under that long shadow, becoming an odd tourist curiosity for people fascinated by the Hoffa case, until it finally closed its doors in 1996. The building itself stayed in use as a restaurant space, and an Andiamo Italian restaurant has occupied the site in the years since.
