01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

The branch started out as the North Woodward branch, in rented space on Woodward near Seven Mile. It later moved to Seven Mile and John R, then opened in its own building in fall 1951 and took Abraham Lincoln's name. Architect William E. Kapp designed the building. These days there's a letter-writing station inside: leave a handwritten letter for a neighbor and get one back.
