The Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts carries the name of Joseph Lebowsky, who opened the building as the Capitol Theater in 1926. A regular theatre group formed there in the 1950s, and more than 350 shows have been staged since. On February 13, 2006, during rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast, a fire gutted the stage and seating area, and after years of rebuilding the center reopened in 2014. As home of the Owosso Community Players, it produces four musicals and two plays a season and hosts visiting artists.

Plan your visit
The theatre is on East Main Street in downtown Owosso. The box office answers at (989) 723-4003 Monday through Thursday noon to 4 p.m. and Friday noon to 5:30 p.m., and will call opens an hour before each show. Use the city lots a few blocks away, not the lot east of the theatre on Park Street.
