The Le Grande at 1365 East Lafayette was one of the hotels Black travelers could rely on in segregated Detroit. It appears in the 1930–31 Hackley & Harrison guide, in Smith's Tourist Guide of 1940 and in the U.S. Interior Department's 1941 directory of hotels for Black guests. The Negro Motorist Green Book listed it from 1938 to 1953. The Michigan SHPO database records the building as no longer standing.
