What’s it like to stay here?
It was built in 1934–1935 as a Depression-era public works project, using logs cleared from the site itself. The 167-acre grounds hold the main lodge, about two dozen log cabins (20 built by Works Progress Administration crews, four more in 1947–48) and a nine-hole wilderness golf course laid out at the same time. Keweenaw County ran it for decades until a 2018 auction. It's the classic base for Copper Harbor's mountain-bike trails and for stargazing under properly dark skies.

Getting there
Cabins are open year-round by reservation, and since summer 2026 the golf course is walking-only and hickory clubs only. We couldn't verify phone numbers or rates, so check the lodge's own site before you go.
