01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Michigan Tech's NCAA Division I men's hockey team has played here since the 1971–72 season. The arena is named for John J. MacInnes, who coached the Huskies from 1956 to 1983. The program owns three national titles and sent Tony Esposito, Bob Lorimer, Randy McKay and John Scott to the NHL. It seats 4,466, a four-sided video board has hung over center ice since 2013, and 14 luxury suites ring the rink. The ice sheet is 200 by 85 feet, and for concerts and commencement the building holds 5,600.
