Inland Press

Detroit print shop since 1895: sixth-generation, family-led union printer doing offset, digital printing and mailing.

01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Inland Press got its start in 1895 as the print shop in the basement of the Detroit Legal News, turning out newspapers, business cards and letterhead for the city's lawyers. It's still a division of The Detroit Legal News Company, run by the Thompson family for five generations, with a sixth now on staff. It has a habit of going early on new tech, installing the first PostScript-only Linotype L300 imagesetters in the U.S. in 1985. Today it prints offset and digital and handles mailing from a 65,000-square-foot plant in Detroit.
