01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
ICON Detroit was founded in February 1993 by six friends who wanted to support people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Today it describes itself as a social leather club, and it still raises money for HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ causes alongside casual “friendraiser” nights. Past events have included the Fetish Carnival, an October ICON Detroit Leather Weekend and a charity leather ball. In June 2026 it produced the first Detroit Leather Weekend together with CLAW Nation.
