What was here?

The Eddystone was the first of three 13-story Italian Renaissance residential hotels that Lew Tuller, of the Hotel Tuller, had Louis Kamper design on Park Avenue. It opened in December 1924 with 156 rooms, but Tuller went broke and lost it to foreclosure in 1928, and hotelier David P. Katz then owned it for nearly four decades. It stayed a transient hotel until the late 1990s, then stood empty for two decades. As part of the Little Caesars Arena deal, the Ilitch family agreed to save and rehab it while its sister, the Park Avenue Hotel, was imploded in 2015; it reopened as apartments in 2022.
