03 / The story of this place

What’s it like to stay here?

Graham, Burnham & Co. designed the David Whitney Building, completed in 1915 facing Grand Circus Park. It sat empty from 1999 until a $92 million restoration opened an Aloft on floors 3–9 in December 2014, with apartments above. In 2022 the owners announced the switch to Marriott's Autograph Collection, with plans to renovate every room and turn 24 apartments into suites for about 160 keys. Presley's Kitchen + Bar feeds you all day, the Library Bar does piano music, a fireplace and a garden in the evening, and the corner Capper & Capper Market, named for the menswear store that once stood there, handles your espresso. Grand Circus Park and the People Mover are right across the street.
