Gigi's began life as a bowling alley and then the 'Café Gigi's' supper club before becoming a gay bar in 1973, and under 1970s owner Tony Garneau it soon welcomed both men and women. The two-level bar has a drag cabaret in the basement and a dance floor upstairs, and its Saturday revue has been directed by Nickki Stevens since the 1990s. It is home to the Miss Gigi's pageant, billed as Michigan's longest-running female-impersonator title, which reaches its 53rd edition in October 2026. Since 2020 it has been owned by husbands Luis and Joshua Mandujano, and it draws a crowd mixed in age, race and gender.
