Fordson High School opened its sprawling Collegiate Gothic building in 1928, replacing the former Springwells High School in what was then the separate village of Fordson, named for Henry Ford and his son Edsel. Michigan's state superintendent of public instruction called it the most beautiful school in the state at the time. Actor Chad Everett, later known for the television series Medical Center, attended Fordson in the 1950s before pursuing acting. The school today sits in a Dearborn neighborhood with one of the largest Arab American populations in the country and is known nationally for its diversity and its football rivalry with Dearborn High School. It remains an active Dearborn Public Schools high school.
