First Light Roasters is Sam and Amal's family roastery in Livonia, and the coffee comes with a story. Sam grew up in 1980s Mogadishu, where his grandmother roasted wild coffee, while Amal's grandfather left Yemen to farm coffee in the Ethiopian highlands. That's why Kenyan and Ethiopian beans anchor the lineup, alongside Latin American single origins, an espresso blend, decaf and cold brew. Everything is roasted in small batches to order and shipped within 48 hours, and they also supply cafes, hotels and restaurants wholesale.
