Make time for these
The Family Theatre opened in 1910 as the Panoramic Theater in downtown East Tawas and took its current name in 1930. Around 2004 the 400-seat auditorium was split into two screens with 340 seats in total. That came at a price: the beloved “Jungle Book” mural had to be covered for new sound equipment. It's open evenings Monday to Saturday, with Wednesday and Sunday matinees. Tickets are sold only at the door, and snacks come from a walk-up window.

It's at 132 Newman St in downtown East Tawas; call (989) 362-5505. There are no advance tickets, so arrive a little early and buy at the door. The schedule lists The Dog Stars on October 1 and Heart of the Beast on October 8, 2026.
