01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
The Archdiocese of Detroit founded Divine Child parish in Dearborn in 1950, and the community soon built an elementary school before opening Divine Child High School on September 4, 1958, with an incoming class of 84 freshmen. The school grew over the following decades into Michigan's largest coeducational Catholic high school. Aidan Hutchinson, a Dearborn native who went on to become an NFL defensive end for the Detroit Lions after starring at the University of Michigan, attended Divine Child from 2014 to 2018, playing football, basketball and other sports before his hometown pro career began. The school remains an active Catholic college-preparatory school today, still educating students from Dearborn and the surrounding western suburbs.
