Dexter Cider Mill
Michigan's oldest continuously operating cider mill, pressing cider on the banks of the Huron River since 1886.

01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
The VanNatter family started the mill in 1886, Otto Wagner bought it in 1900, and it stayed in his family for 86 years. A couple bought it as a retirement project in 1986, and today their daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Marty Steinhauer, run it. Cider still comes off an oak rack press, unpasteurized, from three to five locally grown, hand-picked apple varieties. The bakery turns out cinnamon doughnuts, caramel apples and apple nut bread, with apple strudel, turnovers and hand-rolled gingersnaps on weekends. The newest thing is their own hard cider: Traditional, a dry-hopped India Pale Cider and Bourbon Barrel Aged.
- Operating since 1886, with only three owners
- Unpasteurized cider from an oak rack press
- Hard cider tasting room on weekends
- Outdoor seating above the Huron River
