The Dewey Hotel stood on East Adams Avenue, one of a cluster of Paradise Valley hotels for Black travelers, near the Norwood Hotel, the Club Plantation at 550 East Adams and Club 666 at 666 East Adams. It was listed in The Negro Motorist Green Book from 1940 to 1957. Paradise Valley buzzed around the clock from the 1930s into the 1950s, and Black performers barred from white hotels elsewhere in Michigan stayed in the Valley. The building no longer stands.
