Rod Arroyo, an award-winning urban planner, founded Detroit Legacy Tours in mid-2026, building each walk from his own research rather than a scripted spiel. The main tour, Explore Downtown Detroit, starts on Griswold Street and covers the city's economic boom, bankruptcy, and resurgence over a relaxed 1.5-mile walk. By special request, they'll also run Bebop, Boulevards, and Boomtown, tracing the jazz clubs of the former Black Bottom and Paradise Valley. Groups top out at fourteen people, with a discount for parties of six or more.

How to book and where to meet
Book through FareHarbor; weekday tours run at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with some Saturday mornings too. The Bebop tour only runs by special request, arranged by email.
