Make time for these
Detroit Experience Factory (DXF) started in 2006, originally as Inside Detroit, and closed its downtown welcome center in 2018 to work out of TechTown instead. Their own site shows a full summer lineup: free downtown walking tours, paid bus tours out to Belle Isle and Eastern Market, tasting and bar tours, even a bike tour. The catch is that one link on that page still points to a file from 2016, and the founder's newer venture, City Institute, writes about DXF as if it wrapped up in 2021 — so double-check the 2026 schedule before you plan around it.
