For decades, this festival and its carnival parade were the brightest day on the calendar for Detroit's Caribbean community. The organizer, the Caribbean Cultural and Carnival Organization (CCCO), formed in January 1979 to share Caribbean culture with Metro Detroit and to throw one big annual celebration. In 2009 the parade danced down Woodward toward Hart Plaza as part of the African World Festival, and in 2015 the festival ran three days with Panama as the featured country. In 2022 and 2024 it joined Concert of Colors weekend, and in 2024 it brought a parade and lawn party to the DIA's North Lawn. We haven't found an edition since, and CCCO's website is gone, so we list it as closed; if it comes back, we'll update this page right away.
