What’s it like to stay here?
Crystal Mountain sits in the hills of Benzie County along M-115, southwest of Traverse City. Local families opened it in 1956 as the Buck Hills Ski Club, with three slopes and two rope tows, and 96 investors turned it into Crystal Mountain in 1960; it turns 70 in 2026. Today you can pick a hotel room or a condo, and there's the Crystal Spa, an indoor pool and hot tub, two golf courses (Betsie Valley and Mountain Ridge) and something going on all year. Kids 17 and under stay free, and check-in is at the Inn at the Mountain.
