01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
The field opened in 2005, and Michigan came to town for the very first game on September 13, 2005. Permanent seating went in in 2008, and a new turf and watering system followed in August 2018. The surface is certified Global by the International Hockey Federation. Since 2019 it carries the name of Cristy Freese, who coached the team for 29 seasons and is the winningest coach in program history.
