Checker has been driving Detroit since 1921 and calls itself Michigan's oldest and largest livery company, with 300 vehicles carrying more than 12,000 passengers a day. You can book by phone, app, online or at kiosks in hotels, casinos and valet stands. There's no surge pricing: the posted rate is a $3 initial charge plus 25 cents per tenth of a mile, with a $10 minimum. It also runs wheelchair-accessible vans and takes you straight from DTW to downtown Windsor.
