Calihan Hall has been the home court of the University of Detroit Mercy Titans since 1952, tucked into the McNichols Road campus on Detroit's northwest side. Dick Vitale coached the men's team here from 1973 to 1978, building the loud, sold-out Titans program before he became one of America's best-known basketball broadcasters. Forward Earl Cureton played his college ball on this floor from 1978 to 1980 on his way to an eleven-year NBA career and two championship rings. Decades later, Olympic gold medalist Daedra Charles worked the sideline here as an assistant coach for the Titans' women's team. The arena still hosts Detroit Mercy basketball and other campus events today.
