Birmingham's third theater opened on Woodward in 1941: 957 seats on a single floor, Streamline Moderne styling and no stage at all, built purely for the movies. It closed in 1983.

The Bloomfield went up in 1941 as Birmingham's third theater, on the east side of Woodward just south of Brown Street. Bennett & Straight designed it in Streamline Moderne style, with 957 seats all on one floor. Unlike the older Birmingham Theatre, now the Emagine Birmingham 8, it was purely a movie house, with no deep stage or dressing rooms. United Detroit Theaters operated it. It was split into two screens on October 23, 1981, and closed in November 1983.

A 19-screen first-run multiplex on Ford Road in Canton, run by Michigan-owned Emagine: EMX and Super EMX premium screens with Dolby Atmos, cuddle chairs and a bar. Tickets are $5 on Tuesdays.
