Make time for these
Bees in the D is a Detroit nonprofit working for pollinators: it teaches people about bees and installs hives at schools, businesses and rooftops. Its "Detroit Bee Highway" now counts over 200 hives at more than 75 locations across five Michigan counties, with more than 12 million bees introduced. On a hive tour you suit up in real beekeeping gear and get right next to a working colony, and every jar of its raw honey carries a code that tells you which hive it came from.
- 200+ hives at 75+ locations
- Hive tours in real beekeeping suits
- Raw, unfiltered honey traced by hive code
- Turning vacant lots into pollinator gardens
- Volunteer and sponsor-a-hive options
